Jock Itch Treatment

Terrasil Jock Itch Treatment

Common cases of jock itch can be treated with over the counter antifungal creams or ointments. Prescription antifungal creams are also available from a doctor. Some cases of jock itch may be resistant to topical treatments, in those cases a doctor may need to prescribe an antifungal or antibiotic pill to clear the fungus from your body.

Even while treating jock itch, symptoms may still be bothersome. To feel most comfortable, wear 100% cotton underwear, it allows for better air circulation to prevent moisture build up. Keep groin area clean by washing 2-3 times a day with an antifungal soap. Diminish the growth of new bacteria by keeping the groin area dry and free from moisture. Avoid fabric softeners, bleaches, or harsh laundry detergents, as these may exacerbate irritation.

If jock itch is left untreated, complications may develop. In women, jock itch may lead to white discharge and the development of yeast infections. In men, the infection may spread to the head of the penis, which causes extreme pain. The most severe cases of jock itch may lead to complications like open sores and ulcers.
