Psoriasis Signs & Symptoms

Terrasil Psoriasis Therapy

A common question when it comes to psoriasis is what are the signs and symptoms? How can I really be sure that I have psoriasis?

Before we get into the signs and symptoms, we would like to make sure that you realize you cannot be properly diagnosed just by the “signs.” A medical professional can only diagnose this chronic condition. If you suspect that you have psoriasis, it is important to consult with your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Now, as for possible signs and symptoms…

If you notice plaques of red, inflamed skin that are (often) covered with silvery scales, this is a sign may be a sign of cell build-up on the surface of the skin. The plaques will most likely be itchy. In the most severe cases, they can be painful and bleed, as well as grow into one another to make up one large area. Other symptoms include:

  • Redness
  • Dryness
  • Scaling
  • Irritation
  • Swollen joints
  • Stuff joints
  • Dandruff
  • Pus-filled blisters

A flare-up may happen sporadically and unannounced.

Another common sign may have to do with the fingernails and toenails. You may notice discoloration, pitting, crumbling, or even detachment.

Symptoms of psoriasis can begin at any age, but typically begin around ages 15-25.
