There’s More To Skin Health Than That…

July 7th, 2011 | Self Improvement, Video

Than what? Well, lots of things. We tend to forget the role our skin plays in our overall health. It may appear that if you keep dirt and germs off of your skin, then it will be entirely healthy. But this isn’t the case. Your skin’s health depends on your internal health, and vice versa. Put junk into your body or treat it like it is junk, and your skin will respond accordingly.

For examples of how your internal health impacts your skin, read this.

We often perceive things simply by their initial appearance, but often enough, there is something else going on. Just as our skin is more than a germ barrier, the ways we speak, act and express ourselves often have multiple meanings. When we approach problems, we tend to only look at the surface, rather than thinking outside the box in order to come up with a better solution.

The next time you’re about to make a decision, try and think of all the different angles you can approach the situation from. This will help you understand multiple options and will likely result in a more positive outcome. Should I stop at the drive-thru? Yes. It’s the fastest option. But wait. Sure it’s fast, but if I stop for a second and weigh my options, will the 10 minutes I save by not preparing a healthy meal be worth the calories, grease, fat, sugar and processed chemicals I’d be putting in my body?

Think beyond the superficial aspects of things.

Demonstration: Can you connect all these dots using only 4 lines and without lifting your pen? Draw them on a sheet of paper, try it out, and let me know in the comments if you could do it.

Think Outside the Box
