We’ve known for years that Tea Tree Oil is beneficial for a number of skin problems, but what are the specifics of tea tree oil and skin?
Tea tree oil comes from the Tea Tree, a tree native to Australia that typically grows in swampy areas. Australians mashed the leaves and used them for wound and abrasion healing, thousands of years ago. In the 20’s and 30’s, researchers found that its oil was helpful as an antibacterial and antifungal. Commercialization of tea tree oil followed quickly, and it’s now used in a variety of skin and body care products — from shampoo to skin ointments and everything in between. The Australian military insisted that tea tree oil be in all first aid kits during WWII, for its outstanding healing properties. The history of tea tree oil proves it’s done wonders for skin in many ways.
There have been multiple studies done on the science of tea tree oil, and how it has benefited people with skin conditions and problems across the globe. These include studies on its ability to fight fungus, psoriasis, warts, acne and more. Tea tree oil has been proven time and time again, and that’s why we use it as a crucial skin care ingredient in many of our Aidance Skincare products.
One great use of tea tree oil on skin is simply dabbing it on acne-prone skin, as its antimicrobial qualities can help clean out your pores. Do you have dandruff or a dry scalp? There are a number of shampoos that include tea tree oils that you can use to help clear it up. Don’t use tea tree oil directly on your scalp, though, because direct contact often causes skin irritation.
The benefits of tea tree oil are far more extensive than we’ve covered here — and we’re sure to continue finding more uses through ongoing research!
