Take Care of You: Take Care of Others

December 11th, 2011 | Self Improvement

You know that amazing feeling you get when a loved one’s eyes light up after they open a gift from you? Multiply that by a billion when you take some time to volunteer during the holiday season.

In New York City alone, there are as many as 45,000 people without a place to sleep at night; 17,000 of them are children.

Donating money is wonderful and we should all do it if we can; but many organizations need extra sets of hands to help serve food, organize donations and provide general help around shelters.

These shelters get very busy during the holidays, and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate the spirit of this season than to volunteer.

So bring some joy to your community. Bring a friend. Bring your family. And give back to those in need. You’ll bring a whole new meaning to this time of year. Plus, it’s a great way to spend quality time with those closest to you.

Use this guide to find a shelter in your community.
