What would the holidays be without cookies? Or pie?! Lame. That’s what. So instead of having to sacrifice all the treats in order to stay healthy, we’ve collected a few healthy holiday treat recipes from our friends, families and the Internet.
Homemade Ice Cream Made with a Football
Find your favorite low-cal ice cream recipe and prepare it as directed — here is a great one from Eating Well. But instead of an ice cream maker, use this much more fun option.
1. After mixing all your ingredients, put all the ingredients in a ziploc bag (at least a quart size) and double bag it so you don’t make a mess.
2. Fill a larger sized ziploc with ice and salt surrounding the bag of ingredients with the ice. Double bag.
3. Wrap the bags with a few layers of newspaper and cover it all with a bunch of duct tape.
4. Toss the thing around like a football for an hour with the family.
5. Open it up and enjoy your delicious homemade ice cream!

White Chocolate Holiday Bark (Very simple and fun to make with the kids)
And Remember. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Most desserts aren’t awful (I use that term loosely) for you, just as long as you don’t over indulge. When you’re about to cut that piece of pie, take a piece half that size. Have just one cookie. Or if there are a bunch of desserts that all your friends want you to try, just take a bite of their piece so that you can enjoy a little of everything without feeling too guilty. Your friends will understand if you don’t have 8 full servings of dessert in one sitting.
