The Recipe

You will need:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or a milk of your choice)
  • 1 tbs unsweetened dark cocoa powder or cacao

The Health Benefits

Dark cocoa:

  • Dark chocolate is loaded with minerals and soluble fiber
  • Antioxidant packed! Antioxidants can help free your body of free radicals. This includes polyphenols, flavanols, and catechins.
  • Consider dark chocolate “brain food.” It increases blood flow to the brain AND the heart. It may also reduce the risk of stroke.
  • Dark chocolate is a “feel good” food, as it contains several compounds that have a positive affect on mood and cognitive health.

  • Peppermint oil contains a number of antixoidants.
  • Peppermint is used to ease upset stomachs and/or nausea.
  • Bad breath? Peppermint extract can help cover the odor of bad breath (also known as halitosis). Its microbial properties may also reduce the germs that cause bad breath.

Perfect start to the month, day, and holiday season. Enjoy!
