We know. Sometimes you have to stay up late to get things done after the kids go to bed. But those 8 hours are more important than you may think.
If you don’t get enough sleep, by the time all the real festivities happen, you’ll be too tired from all the prep work. So be sure to work sleep into that big holiday plan you worked so hard on. Ultimately, you’re going to need all the sleep you can get during the next couple weeks just to keep up and get everything done. Don’t overwork yourself. If you’re feeling tired, make taking a nap your priority. Holiday prep can wait. It won’t all come crumbling down because you got the rest you deserved.
Here are some tips to sneak those few extra winks in.
1. If you have to do things while the kids aren’t around, send them to the movies or do it while they’re at school. Or sacrifice just an hour a night for a few days rather than doing it all at once.
2. Use gift bags instead of wrapping paper. It will take less time to “wrap” your gifts and they’re reusable year after year. Go green!
3. Listen to your body. If you’re constantly yawning, or nodding off when you sit down for a minute, take a nap. You’re sleep cycle runs on a 90 minute schedule. So an hour and a half nap will be all you’ll need for a little recharge.
