While they may take a little warming up to – and a lesson or two in cutting open – pomegranates should be embraced and enjoyed this time of year. Let’s take a look at just a few of the health benefits that they can provide you with…

You guessed it… Antioxidant-packed! Its antioxidant content can aid in the following:

  • Lower cholesterol
  • Lower risk of heart disease
  • Lower risk of prostate cancer (hear that, guys?)
  • Lower risk of breast cancer

Pomegranates are also loaded with vitamin C. The fruit contains 100 ml (16% of the daily requirement.)

In terms of skin care, pomegranates may help slow the signs of aging. Polyphenols, a type of antioxidant that slows aging, is found in abundance in pomegranate. This can prevent:

  • Age spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Fine lines/wrinkles

Since pomegranates promote healthy blood circulation, they are often used to prevent blood clotting, allowing for a much more youthful appearance and glow.

Other beauty benefits? Pomegranate protects the epidermis and dermis by:

  • Skin cell regeneration
  • Promoting the repair of tissues
  • Healing wounds by promoting circulation to skin that is healing

When it comes to bone health and quality, pomegranate juice contains enzyme inhibitors that can aid in the prevention of cartilage damage.

Attention pregnant ladies: Pick up a pom! The juice is high in niacin, folic acid, potassium, calcium, fiber, vitamin C, and iron… all which can help to maintain your health and encourage cell growth. Wanna hear the best parts?

  • Pom juice has been found to reduce cramping
  • Pom juice has been found to reduce sleeping difficulties
  • Pom juice has been found to increase blood flow to the baby, reducing the risk of brain damage

If those are not good enough reasons to eat a pomegranate… we’re not sure what is!

Lesson of the day? Don’t underestimate the power of pomegranates!
