New Mommy: Preventing Diaper Rash

July 14th, 2014 | Diaper Rash, Natural Remedies, Skin care

As a new mommy, it is inevitable that you will worry about every little thing that seems “off.” Over time, you will learn what is a problem and what you can simply brush off! But hey – you can never be too safe.

One issue that you may come across is diaper rash. Once you notice these tiny red bumps, you may have a mini-freak out. Do not fret! Diaper rash is normal for most babies and may happen more than once. Fortunately, there are ways that you can treat and protect your baby from future rashes.

What do I look for?

Diaper rash can be mild, in which case it may be a few red bumps. In some cases, it can also be a little more extensive, in which case it could be warm and puffy, with the marks spreading around your baby’s thighs and tummy. Again, do not be alarmed! This is a part of motherhood and it will most likely occur at least once in your child’s first year. Repeat after me: This is not your fault.

How did this happen?

Diaper rash can be caused by a number of things, whether you have tried a new food or your baby has simply wet himself. It could also be caused by chafing from the diaper, or even the type of antibiotics that your child may be on.

What can be done?

To prevent diaper rash as best as you can, keep your baby’s bottom clean and dry by changing his or her diaper often. You may also want to avoid baby wipes that contain alcohol or scented perfume.

As for treatment, Terrasil Itch, Rash, and Pain Relief works as a diaper rash cream. It can help to eliminate the rash irritation with its all-natural formula.

The most important thing is to stay calm and remember that this is just another part of motherhood. As long as you monitor and treat the rash, your cutie’s bum will be looking smooth and rash-free in no time!
