How Do Anti-Aging Products Work?

August 21st, 2012 | General News

Have you ever wondered what those expensive anti aging creams and treatments do to keep your skin looking young? A team of researchers from UC Davis and Peking University may have figured out how anti aging products work.

You can read the technical aspects by clicking here, but we’ll try to simplify it quickly.

AHAs, naturally derived weak acids found in most anti-aging products, enter your skin cells and cause the cell to become acidic. The acidic environment forces excess amounts of calcium into the cell, overloading and killing the cell, leading to skin exfoliation. This allows new, healthy skin to be exposed and a “younger” you to surface.

Have you ever used anti-aging products? What skincare treatments have worked or not worked for you? Let us know in the comments.
