Bug Bite Treatment

June 30th, 2014 | Bug Bite, Natural Remedies, Seasonal

There is nothing quite like a wam, summers night. Whether you are spending your nights on the beach or sitting around a bon fire, it really doesn’t get much better than this.

Except… mosquitos are out and on the prowl! With the 4th of July around the corner, now may be a good time to discuss bug bite treatment.

First and foremost, prevention.

Mosquitos are most frequently out at dawn and dusk, If you are outdoors at these times, it is best to do the following:

  • Wear light colors
  • Wear long sleeves and long pants
  • Use bug spray (but steer clear of chemical bug spray… find a natural brand!)
  • Light a cintronella candle
  • Get a bug net or screened-in tent

Now, let’s discuss treatment.

At-home remedies are popular when treating bug bites. This includes:

  • Honey. It has antiseptic properties.
  • Aloe Vera. It can help draw the sting out, since it has anti-inflammatory properties. BONUS TIP: Stick aloe in the fridge before using it. Cool aloe is much more soothing!
  • Tea tree oil. It has antiseptic properties that can prevent bites from getting infected.
  • Peppermint. Its cooling sensation can temporarily block the itching sensation, providing relief.

If you do not want to scratch (which, you don’t), use scotch tape as a temporary solution. This will remind you not to scratch!

Terrasil Itch, Rash, and Pain relief will come in handy during those times when a bite will simply not stop itching. The discomfort can be daunting! This all-in-one relief system in a jar is all-natural and can eliminate the itch, redness, and inflammation of a bite.

When you feel more comfortable, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your Independence Day weekend!
