Think you’re the only one feeling chilly this winter?
When it gets cold, we bundle up, but what about plants? There are lots of plants that need to stay healthy even in the winter so they can go into the skin care products that keep you healthy.
Jojoba seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the jojoba plant. The oil is strikingly similar to the natural moisturizer our bodies produce from our sebaceous glands called sebum, which protects and waterproofs our skin and hair. Jojoba seed oil, which is actually a golden, liquid wax, has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It soothes irritated areas while discouraging growth of bacteria and fungi that may want to work their way into your skin. Jojoba seed oil also contains vitamin E and vitamin B as well as silicon, chromium, copper and zinc, which are all vital nutrients for strong, healthy skin.
Jojoba is typically a very tough plant. After all, it fairs very well in harsh desert environments. When temperatures drop below 20˚F (-6.7˚C), the jojoba plants become damaged; and if a frost occurs during early seedling development, it will likely kill nearly the entire crop. It takes about four years for jojoba plants to start producing seeds so an unexpected, dramatic frost like this translates to years of fruitless effort and leaves farmers scrambling for a solution.
Argentina is the world’s largest producer of jojoba and this past November, the country experienced a harsh frost threatened the world’s access to jojoba seed oil.
Perry, co-founder of Aidance Skincare, flew across the world when he heard the news.
Knowing that Israel produces the highest quality jojoba, he personally made the trip to Israel to solve this crisis. Something had to be done to ensure we continue to get what you, our customers, need. Perry met with the owner of the jojoba plantation and managed to secure a portion of the jojoba production specifically for Aidance Skincare use for years to come; and just like that, *snaps fingers*, your favorite Aidance products were safe and sound.
