6 More Weeks of Winter Skin

February 2nd, 2012 | Nutrition and Health

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning after peeking out of his little groundhog home. That means six more weeks of winter, and six more weeks of having to deal with dry winter skin.

Does this sound familiar? Seek relief from cracked winter skin.

Thankfully our winter in Rhode Island has been fairly mild.

But in case you’ve been experiencing a true winter, here are a few simple reminders to keep your skin healthy:

  • Drink lots and lots of water.
  • Moisturize regularly. Especially if you’re getting over a cold and have been blowing your nose a lot. This can severely dry out and irritate the sensitive skin around your nose.
  • Don’t walk around in wet socks and wear comfortable, waterproof shoes.
  • Keep a humidifier or bowl of water around to add moisture to the dry air in your heated home.
  • And don’t forget to have fun! Go sledding, make snowmen and cozy up with a mug of fresh hot chocolate.
