Acne may be one of the most stressful parts of being a teenager. When a pimple pops up, you may want to hide in your bedroom until it’s gone. But hey—that is no way to live! It’s time to combat acne, naturally.
Take a look at these three home remedies. Who knew acne treatment was hiding in your fridge and pantry?
#1: Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a triple-threat to acne. How? First, it kills bacteria. Second, it balances the pH of your skin, making it harder for bacteria to thrive. Third, it acts as an astringent, drying up excess oil on your skin. So how can you use this to your advantage?
Mix 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water in a small bowl. Using a cotton ball, apply directly to blemish. Leave this solution on for ten minutes before washing your face as you normally would.
BONUS TID BIT: Do not overdo it! Apple cider vinegar could dry out your skin too much, which may lead to overproduction of oil… meaning another dreaded breakout.
#2: Lemon Juice
Ah, lemon juice. Not only does it smell fresh and clean, but it has acne-fighting nutrients. First, its vitamin C content is a citric acid, helping to exfoliate skin. Lemon juice also acts as an astringent, helping to dry out blemishes.
Working with lemon juice is simple. All you need to do is juice the lemon, apply to a cotton ball and apply to your face. That’s it!
BONUS TID BIT: Lemon is a natural skin whitener, which can help to reduce redness!
#3: Honey & Cinnamon
Did you know that cinnamon has antimicrobial properties that could put an end to bacteria? It sure does! Add honey to the mix and you are ready to “stick it” to breakouts!
Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Apply this paste to your face and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and be sure to wipe it ALL off.
BONUS TID BIT: Hey, it doesn’t hurt that this concoction smells great, too!
