Lead in Lipstick: Are there “safe” levels?

Posted on March 1st, 2012 in General News | No comments

A recent study by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has shown that your lipstick likely has a lot more lead in it than previously thought. I don’t know about you, but any of this heavy metal in lipstick seems like a lot more than I would have previously thought.

This study revealed over 400 brands of lipstick have approximately twice the amount of lead than what was reported by a previous FDA study. Maybelline Color Sensation by L’Oreal USA has the highest lead concentration of all the brands tested.

The FDA claims that these lead concentrations, up to 7.19 parts per million, are not high enough to cause any harm to users of these products.

But many doctors and activists believe that any amount of lead is an unsafe amount.

“How many millions of women have applied and reapplied lead-containing lipsticks since we first raised concerns about this problem five years ago? How many kids have played with their mom’s lipstick?” said Janet Nudelman, interim director of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

Why risk it? Use organic lip balm to give your lips that little something extra, and just avoid the potentially lead-contaminated lipsticks. You’re already beautiful.

Does knowing lead may be in your lipstick concern you?

We are so confident that Aidance products will work for you that we will refund your money if you don't see the results you are looking for. Based on feedback, most customers start to see results almost immediately, however the relief process is slightly different for each person. If, after using one of our products, you are dissatisfied with its effectiveness in any way, you have a full 90 days (3 months) to return it and request a no-hassle refund.*
Just to be clear, we understand that using Aidance products means, well, "using them." So, do not be bashful about taking a full 90 days before making up your mind, or returning a completely empty jar or bottle. As long as you save the packaging and return it to us with an explanation of your dissatisfaction, we'll issue you a refund.
We are proud to announce that even with this generous guarantee policy, less than 3% of our customers worldwide choose to return an Aidance product. (This statistic reflects the average return rate from customers in 150 countries, over a 7-year period.)
